Please find answers to your question here. I forgot the actual pages from USCIS red book but a simple logic states that 485 background screening is atrociously longer than the one done after filing for H1B application. That means they are different (or ought to be).

Regarding long names, longer the better as told by my lawyer! I think they do a series of checks with: common variants, substring matches, binomial match etc. Hence (assuming you are from India) if you are (for eg.) Dude I agree that we need Visa recapture but and additional 50K visas a year for EB will go a long way as well....
In current situation any increase in EB visas will help...

My(dependant) EAD is still pending while primary's EAD was approved on 8/19 by TSC.
Anybody out there with Self and Spouse EAD Card approved from NSC, but Self actual physical EAD card arrived but Spouse physical EAD card did not arrive at the usual time say 5 days after approval.
Usually I have seen both arrive at the same time. Please comment. Thanks.

I filed for 485 on Jul 19. Got my EAD, 485 receipts, AP is pending. I-140 filed on Feb 28th 2007 at Nebraska and pending.
What are the risks if I move at this time. Company may not revoke I-140, but may not respond to RFE. He can use AP to renter. USCIS would not have approved to give EAD if USCIS determined he was out of status in the first place.

Do do your DD before signing on the dotted line. esp if the company is offering 1/2 mil for $22, I will check the ratings of such companies. Of course you want to make sure they are around when it is time to pay.

Recently, my brother's wife got GC-rejection. Though, my brother has already received his GC. The reason is : her status was invalid for a month in US. She got different I-94 expiration date than him during her first visit in 1999, though they landed here together. But, her I-94 expired earlier than my brother and he extended her Visa based on his I-94 expiration date. My brother did not realize it until now.
What are her option now? The attorney is applying for re-consideration based on husband & kids status (US born), but, they said chances of the acceptance are very slim. They are well settled here. Now, they need to go back to India just because of her GC-rejection. And of course she can not come back here again unless she applies for H1-B. This is very devastating for them after living here for more than 10 yrs.
Has anyone faced similar situation earlier. I guess it is a very common mistake and there must be some solution. Please share your thoughts/experience.

I currently have an employment based I-485 application pending (EB3, India). My application was filed when I was single. Now my spouse is getting ready to file his 140/485concurrently (EB2 NIW, non-retrogressed country). Since I already have a pending 485 application, we do not plan on submitting another 485 application for me when he files his. My understanding is that once he receives his 485 receipt notice, we would just need to inform USCIS that both our 485 applications need to be merged (his being the primary, and mine being the derivative). I just wanted to confirm that this is correct, or if there is anything else that needs to be done.
Please advise.

My H1 extension expires on March 08, Have EAD, Work for the same employer who sponsered my GC.
Does my employer has to apply for my H1 extension ? Should I use EAD to work with my same employer (what paper work I have to do ?).
Hypothical question, If I use EAD to work, lets say there is a delay in getting my EAD renewed even though I apply 120 days in advance, should I stop working and start working only after I get my new EAD ??
Some may find these as irrelvant thoughts/questions, but we are in this limbo state and it is better to know.
