This constant pestering about filling up our profiles totally pisses me off. What exactly is the idea? That a person who is not waiting for a GC can't post in these forums? What if you are not even interested in GC? Or what if you are already a US citizen? Or may be just somebody happily living in Timbuctoo, and visiting these forums just for social networking? Is this site out of bound for them?

when we had options to donate $20, a large number of members came out with the same argument for reducing it to $10!
meanwhile the check option usually allows flexibility and is temporarily down for some circumstances beyond immediate control. it will be back though.

I just received a letter from the person who took my AOS interview
The letter reads like this,
The Priority date for your classification is not current at this time. Your case meets the requirements for abeyance until a visa number is available for your priority date. Please refrain from making status inquiries until 90 days after your priority date is available. To view priority dates go to: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html
wow...she screwed us royally..on face she said she is going to approve our petition as it every thing and also PD is CURRENT..Now she sent a letter saying my PD is not current and adding insult to an injury she sent a link to the DOS bulletin which says I am current.

Many guys here worry too much, just relax and live a peaqceful life. Jus think this, we are highly educated and would defintely be able to make a living anywhere in the world, not just US. Don't worry tooo much and think others have no work and want to fool you guys.

hello guys, i just went through all the 6 pages but still am confused.
This is how my name appears on my passport:
First name- ______(blank!)
Last Name- Ravneet.
one every US document including SSN, License, Job, its listed as FNU Ravneet.
I am on F1 visa, working on my OPT. My student visa just expired but my OPT-EAD is valid till june09. I feel very embarassed when asked" how do u say ur first name", I need to have it changed, could somebody tell me step by step the process involved.
I can drive to NY consulate and have my passport changed, but then how to change every US document, I mean would a expired US visa be a issue? My EAD is valid and I am legally in status. Please guide!

I would like to start this thread for the benefit of people who do not have a straightforward immigration history. In a nutshell, I hope in the future this thread will serve to provide information and advice on
Out of Status issues - Inconsistency with what's stamped in the passport and what you're actually doing
Unlawful Stay - Stay beyond the date in the I-94 card
The main focus will be on what these things can do to your i) AOS/CP filings ;and/or ii) future non-immigrant visas.
I came to this country because of a twist of fate and had zero knowledge of the immigration laws here. Through the school of hard knocks, I have gained considerable knowledge about this convoluted process that affects us all and hopefully what I learnt will be of use to other people in the same boat.
A special mention goes out to "unitednations" for his skill and knowledge about various issues. Thanks buddy, you're a huge asset to all of us.

People got their labor subsituted because they had a oppurtunity and a provision that was legally correct. Instead of sitting and cribbing lets look in a direction which is going to unite all these streams into a big force.
Com'on guys, stop looking at things from a closed prespective. We need to be open and look at a grand agenda.

I have only a few things to say to Mr. Sherman.
Do whatever the F**K you want to stop us immigrants. You can't.
Nobody was able to stop your Grandpa from hopping aboard the Mayflower and landing in Ellis island and making a good life for himself. He had the might. He did it. So will we. However, I will do one thing more than that. I will teach my grand kids to respect people, no matter who they are and where they are from.
I am going to immigrate. I am going to work hard. I am going to prosper. I will bring good life to my family. I will bring value to this society and this country. I will start companies and provide my brother americans with jobs. I will help make America better.
You only make me stronger.
I could say here that people like you make our lives difficult. But that would be wrong. I have quite a few Second generation Italian friends here in florida and they are simply gems. They are among the reason I always wanted to come to this country. So you are alone in your ridicule/negative motivation. As much as you want to make us feel, we are aware that you do not represent the majority sentiment in this great country.

Jobs in America is for Americans. If at all it gets outsourced to your country then it is yours. But as long as that job is in my country, I will defend it and not let some Strive or Skill act take it away from me.

Hi,
My wife is in F-1 status, but I�m afraid to change to F-2 right now and loose the opportunity of transfer the H1 to a new employer... unluckily finding a job has not been an easy task, since I am in Puerto Rico and here the situation is not good.
My last paystub is June 14th, and I was wondering to apply on July 2nd, but because on delays with the medicals I got trapped in the Visa Bulletin fiasco mess.
I've talked with several local lawyers and none of them has given me hopes beyond the F-2 status.
Some friends recommended to file I485, but I don't want to risk for an RFE :(
I'm trying to be strong for my family specially for my kids, the older one cries everytime he hears us talking about leaving PR.

VZLAN, have you explored the epossibility of a self sponsored petition? You have 10 years exp and a house/assets etc..you might be able to self-sponsor yourself based on these things. Look in google for 'self-sponsored green card'. There are people who do that and get through. You can do this in F2/F1 status too.
