I hate this cloud crap. All just an excuse to take away the consumers control of what they buy or use.
We need a boycott.
You'll go nutz in couple decades when our CPU's aren't even in our homes anymore. Start to get used to the idea of "cloud" slowly :)

What's your point? Are you trying to phrase it in a way that sounds like the two are somehow the same? Apple was awarded the trademark to "app store" and other companies want to use it - whether that trademark holds up we'll have to see.
And what does that have to do with the app store trademark? He doesn't mention "app store" does he?
Good point. The obvious alternative to App Store is Application Store.
Along those same lines, the term ANDROID was in general use and considered generic and not trademarkable. In Star Wars, George Lucas used the term Droid - since it hadn't been used before he was able to trademark the shorter term (which he still holds).
What about the Container Store, which is trademarked? Seems like the difference is whether or not the term is in common use before the trademark is filed.
RoomStore too.

thats:
334,448 iPods or
671,141 Nanos or
1,449,275 Shuffles.
Exactly! Not to mention computer sales that will also contribute to this. And now Apple has another company to add to it's list that'll be helping those iPods sales by making iPod accessories.
Because of Apple's actions, Creative can now legitimately force other MP3 player makers to pay too. I think this is what Apple wants.
Interesting...that's a good point.

What is this....
www.apple.com/movies
comes up with

You don't have permission to access /movies on this server.
What might this mean
movies.apple.com is where they keep the movies that stream on the site (like the get a mac ads)
you normally can't browse to them, but if you look at the page info using Firefox, you can see on a page where the media is located. That's how you can download those movies withouth getting quicktime pro

If Blu-Ray was going to happen it would've been in the refresh of 2011 MBP's. I can't imagine the optical drive being around much longer in anything other than the Mac Pro.
Now there's 100GB BDXL. There's plenty of time for Blu-Ray to keep on living on notebooks.

I just called three local Apple Stores in the Seattle area and not a single one has the new iMacs in stock. Is this happening to everyone else? I really wanted to pick mine up today!
I stopped by my local Apple store and had a similar experience. Actually, it was a bit worse... they still had the old iMacs out and when I asked about the new ones, I was told "What new iMacs?"

Then why do you hate CDMA so much? There are ways of unlocking CDMA phones and using them on other networks.
And the reason why I talked about international roaming rates was because you said in a nutshell that we couldn't bring our phone to another country.
There are ways of walking on the moon. Doesnt mean its particularly consumer-friendly.
I brought up using a phone internationally because of the technical compatibility of using GSM over CDMA. price is irrelevant. the fact that "some cdma phones are gsm compatible" is proof that CDMA has very limited use worldwide.
so basically. IF your CDMA carrier has a phone that you like AND is GSM compatible, you can take it and roam.
or. you can accept that while it may be technically superior (i said MAY. speed isnt everything) CDMA is a very tiny pocket of the mobile market.

There is just so much wrong with 100% of your post. I can't even begin, nor will I spend time, contradicting every sentence.
There is so much wrong with 100% of your comment above. I can't even begin, nor will I spend time, trying to explain why you're 100% wrong about me being 100% wrong.
In short, there is no war between Apple and Microsoft...nor has been for decades.
You either jumped on the Apple bandwagon after Y2K or you're a MS fanboy. Which is it?
Also, you think Apple is not a monopoly? Apple makes the hardware, the OS, the apps, and Appstore, and APPROVES what apps consumers can purchase. No...that's not a monopoly. No, sir.
Sony makes Playstation 2, the Playstation 2 OS, the Playstation 2 network, and APPROVES what can or cannot be done on the Playstation 2 network and to some extent, APPROVES what games consumers can or cannot play on Playstation 2.
Therefore, based on your logic, Sony is a . . . MONOPOLY!
Let's do another one:
RIM makes the Playbook, the Playbook OS, the Playbook apps and Playbook app store, and APPROVES what apps consumer can purchase.
Therefore, based on your logic, RIM is a. . . .. MONOPOLY!

why is the US so far behind Europe with this kind of technology?

Higher resolution cameras are a security problem for the time being.

but i thought half the point of TB was that you would only need one output from the computer, and since we don't have any TB displays (or anything for that matter) how do we know that the ports are limited to one display?
TB has two 10 Gbps channels. A display takes up one of them. To power a second display, you could use the other channel, but you'd need some kind of breakout box that housed a video card.

I don't know you. I do know that you have no idea what the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineers and the Project Management Institute is. I do know that you have no idea what Certified Cost Engineer, Certified Forensic Claims Consultant, and Project Management Professional certifications are.
As I mentioned, Experience or Education isn't necessary to refute the post "Microsoft is DEAD". A 3rd grade education and a tad of common sense would tell you that..
Obviously, WE all don't. My original post was not addressed to you but to Mr. BR Lawyer whose exact post was "Microsoft is DEAD"... Please go on though and tell me about how "WE ALL KNOW"....
Again, it's nonsense like this that indicates to me that you have no idea what you are talking about. I need not know about your qualifications or experience. You continue to show me how truly knowledgeable you are..
So you're saying the only reason anyone goes into business is to make profit?
It's not possible to see the breakeven point as the fundamental target?
Staying in business is not important then?
The associations that you belong to are not going to be recognised so quickly this side of the pond, but I wasn't suggesting you didn't have qualifications, I suggested waving them around was not necessary or well received in a forum where a general chat about giants of industry will not affect their business models or practices one iota.
Welcome to Macrumors by the way!

Is all relative. If you take my home country, it'll be around $1.32/hour pay for minimum wage. You get 2 weeks vacation and equivalent pay. Oh and down there they treat you like crap because of the infuriating high 35% unemployment rate. So everyone looks out for their job even if it means sucking up.
Here in the US you can fight it. So yeah. Also Europe has more taxes than the US. Consecuently we get taxed even lower than the US. But still $315.50 a month is barely covering cost of living even for my country.
Care to complain now?
Sure, regardless of the situation in other countriesSouth America?the question is whether this is a problem in the U.S. and I think it is, and the comparison of a Swedish company using the US like the US uses Mexico, for cheap labor, should be a wakeup call to the US that our current economic policies are making us Mexico to Europe.
This sounds like IKEA is the one being a bitch.
I can't see how this is "the right's" fault. If so, why doesn't "the left" step in a help out?
As Ugg pointed out, the 'right' has pushed for anti-union policies, including 'right-to-work' status for states like Virginia. That said, I don't think this is a 'right' or 'left' issue per se, but rather a gleeful removal of worker's rights to garner jobsregardless of the health of a community funded by low-wage, short-term positions.

Just another ploy to scare people into buying there over priced software.
I'm sure Apple takes security very very seriously. Is it me or is McAffee screaming wolf?
Why pay for bloatware, when Sophos is giving it away for free? Then, there's also ClamXAV.

Then you haven't been paying attention. We've KNOWN new iMacs were coming in September ever since Intel announced Core 2 Duo was coming in September, THREE MONTHS AGO. I've been waiting three months for the Core 2 Duo iMac update.
Me too, I doubt if Apple wil wait another month because other PC manufacturers have release a few Core 2 Duos over the last few days and lets face it Apple is now competing on a hardware basis now as well.

goes to a great cause, and doesn't cost you anything more.
there is no such thing as charity in america, it always comes through commerce. why not just donate the $200 bux? does a lot more than the 10 bux you are donating now, so you can justify getting a new ipod. hell i would buy a red ipod just cos of the color i don't see why the cos has to be associated with it, if they're gonna do this they might as well just donate 10% of all ipod sales. at least it does something more than haveing a "show off" recipet for your so called act of charity.
"Hi i'm bono, there's a huge aids problem in africa and people don't pay attention, heres a new ipod"
wtf.

This year it starts on Tuesday September 12 which would be perfect timing for the release and "shipping today" Debut Of Merom Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros.
That's horrible news for me. I Don't know how much longer I will be able to use my iMac for. But I don't want to order a MBP and 3 weeks later, a new one comes out.
