Problem being that last page of that thread keeps refreshing itself and everytime i scroll down to the bottom of the page it keeps going back to the top. Sounds like some script is running in the background.
I had the page scrolling issue too on IE 6 (at work) . Now, I open IV forumns on firefox and I do not have the problem anymore.

As some of you know, I have been working with news media, government leaders, and immigration lawyers over the past year because of the stimulus debacle. As a result, I have developed some strong contacts in government. I will be meeting some congressional immigration staffers in the next few days and I have developed a list of issues to discuss. If you want to post your own issues, feel free to do so in this thread and I will add them to the list. These are the same people who helped get the last stimulus bill changed in our favor, so they do have influence.
PLEASE be brief - bullet points would be good.
Also links to articles to support your concerns are welcome. I will put together a package to hand out at the meeting.
I thought of posting a poll on this thread, but decided it would be better to leave the discussion open ended.
Issues that should be addressed:
- The lawyer-employer nexus determines the category of immigration, often to their advantage.
- Documents like labor and I140 are never shared with the employee.
- The unfortunate in the slowest category gets a shot at US citizenship far later (10-15 yrs) than their more lucky counterparts.
- Changing employment is very risky and an employee remains bound to serve the same employer for many years, or have the process reset.

two weeks for renewal of my wife's passport.
This was at Indian Consulate, Houston.
BTW, I added $20 to the fees for return overnite shipping. I didn't go there personally but sent it by overnite mail.
I guess you really were lucky to get away in 2 weeks...I have not heard any +ve stories for services at CGI Houston....Their customer service really sucks big time....Its unimaginably tough to speak to a person when you call, on top of that, if you get through, they are very rude to talk to....You are just helpless.....I did send my application via overnite fedex with a $20 fee for express mail and it reached them on Oct 26th.....Hopefully, will hear from them soon.....I will post an update if there is one.....

Caliber, we are seeing a totally hopeless situation. Especially people with later PDs in EB3-I category.
The CIS official had clearly said that EB3-I pending will be in decades unless some changes are made to the immigration laws. Seeing the way the health care bill is going, none of the EB3 folks are seeing any hope for CIR.
You are 100% right. IV Core also got wrong data from CIS. Core is following up with the CIS. But as you said, EB3-I will not get any spill overs. There are 45K EB3-I's and we see hardly 100-200 in this forum. We need many people and I feel still people do not realize the grave situation.

EB1 spillover may never come for some time in the future. The Indian IT companies are applying under EB1 for their PMs and Senior PMs (req: BS in any discipline + 6-7 yrs exp), labeling them as multi-national executives. They are also making the employee pay for the 140 and 485 so that the financial impact is reduced a lot by a potential rejection of the 140.
This is as much BS as labor sub. I think everybody here knows how tough it is to get EB1 classification for researchers. But what scrutiny is there for these "multi-national executives" ? All they have to do is spend some time in India or any other country as a PM or SPM, come to the US on H1B and promptly apply under EB1.
You nailed it. This is the other form of labor substitution loophole the indian IT companies are using. Even I have started to hear quite a few cases now that indian IT PM or manager are being labelled as multi-national executives. If this is not stopped then any relief from spillover, you can just forget about it. I have heard lot of cases now like this and we need to do something about it. Only genuine candidates should be able to apply in this category.

Yes, that's true.
it does contradict with what they said in April VB, but Ron said that his source is Oppenheimer. so I would go with what he said. remember, it was Oppenheimer who told him back in Feb or early Mar that India EB2 will have a cutoff date in April.

snathan, your selflessness is inspiring! You followed through and went to the lawyer even though your labor got approved. Good things will come your way.
I have been stuck in audit since December. I am willing to participate/help out although I do belive not much will come out of it. Our cases will take the time they need since it's very hard to rush govt agencies. Especially since immigration is considered a "benefit" (albeit privilege).

Just wanted to let you know that I've booked my ticket and will be attending the advocacy days on both days. This is my first time coming to the advocacy days and am looking forward to it. I'll registering for the event tomorrow, but wanted to pass on the information.
Also, I'll be staying at a friend's place who lives in Cockeysville, MD, a suburb of Baltimore. If anybody from this area is traveling for the event, I'd love to ride along because I won't have a car and don't know the area.

Finally, it is my turn to get the approval email. At 2.30 pm MST, I received the approval email, but still no emails for my two dependants. The waiting-game is not yet over:-)

I wish good luck to everyone who have been waiting for your turns!
I had an Infopass appointment this morning with a very helpful and informative IO, and he confirmed that my dependants' cases were also approved on 09/01. Looks like TSC email system doesn't work properly as there were no emails for my dependants. I belive that some of you folks may have already been approved with no status change and CPO emails. Good luck again for all you who are current and have been waiting for approvals.

How much clout does this congresswoman have? She seems to understand the entire scenario better than any american soul out there! It also seems like she has spent a lot of time on this and understands the system very well.
I guess it remains to be seen what kind of impact her letter will have on USCIS. Obviously, USCIS did something unlawful.
She understands it better because look at her biography:
http://lofgren.house.gov/biography.shtml
Professional Career
Served as Staff Assistant to her predecessor, Congressman Don Edwards, 1970-1978;
Worked on impeachment proceedings, the Equal Rights Amendment, and creation of the Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge in the South San Francisco Bay
Practiced immigration law as a partner in the firm of Webber & Lofgren, 1978-1980
Taught immigration law at University of Santa Clara School of Law, 1977-1980
Served on Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, 1981-1994
U.S. Congress
Elected in 1994 as only freshman Democrat from west of the Rocky Mountains
Serves on Committee on the Judiciary:
Chair of Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security and International Law
Subcommittee on Administrative Law
Serves on Committee on Homeland Security: Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, and Science and Technology
Subcommittee on Border, Maritime and Global Counterterrorism
Serves on Committee on House Administration
Chair of Subcommittee on Elections

Anyone received payment processing errors in the last couple of days on the E-File website? For some reason, while trying to complete payment for my AP e-file, when I try to use the credit card option, I keep getting an error that the e-filing payment processing server is unable to process payments at this time. I have been trying every hour for the last 2 days...and the stupid USCIS Customer Service number has no options to report this error...
From last two days I am also getting the Payment Processing error when i use the credit card option and called the Customer service, they informed send an email to E-filing.support@dhs.gov and sent an email yesterday and still didn't receive any response back. Today When i try to goto login page, now i am getting "Server is currently unavailable or down for maintenance".

just found this post on fragomen.com.
If USCIS is planning on using up all 40K by July 2, and not accepting applications why would they put out a memo like this?
questions are never ending, the only thing in our control is to push our lawyer to file asap.
------
USCIS to Suspend Premium Processing for All I-140 Petitions Beginning July 2
06/28/2007
In a press release issued today, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it will impose a temporary suspension of premium processing services for all Form I-140 immigrant worker petitions from July 2, 2007 to August 1, 2007. Premium services are being suspended because USCIS expects a surge of I-140 filings beginning on July 2, when immigrant visa priority dates become current for nearly all employment-based categories. The agency anticipates that, due to the high volume of filings, it will be unable to meet the 15-day processing goal of the service.
During the 30-day period, USCIS plans to review its decision to halt premium processing of I-140s, and could extend the suspension beyond August 1 if, due to its workload, the agency remains unable to guarantee 15-day processing. Note that premium processing services are currently suspended for I-140 petitions for which a labor certification substitution is being requested, pursuant to a new Department of Labor (DOL) regulation that prohibits substitution of labor certification beneficiaries beginning July 16, 2007.
1. I-140 processing times have been already adversely affected by almost everyone going in for premium processing... in one case (TSC, EB-3?) it went back to 2003
2. there would definitely be a surge in the I-140's beginning July-- many going in for Premium Processing, which would certainly slow them down, and perhaps, make it impossible to guarantee a 15 day response
3. possibly, they are helping speed up the AOS decisions by doing this
However, it sucks that they are doing something like this with a less than 1 week notice!

Wake up. Don’t take every word from Ron Hira as word of Gospel. This guy is the biggest thief and preacher of hate. This guy is a partner of IEEE-USA and is the author of Durbin Grassley bill. Ron Hira wants all of us on H-1B out of the country. He represents racist middle-aged engineers here who are scared of competition from younger and dynamic engineers from Asia, Europe and other parts of the world.
And one more thing, what do you mean by “Indian Companies”. All the companies are registered in US. Stop putting imaginary labels to the problem. Don’t fall in the trap of people like Ron Hira as all that they want is that all of us on H-1B to be out of the country. Wake up to the harsh reality and stop ranting. See this thread:

more participation if we woke up inactive members. Please send the advocacy news letter to all members to get more participation.
Members from the mid western states - your participation is crucial in the advocacy efforts.
OH, IN, IL, TN, KY, MO, AR, KS, OK
It is very difficult to get appointments from legislative offices if no one from their constituency will be attending the meeting.
The DC Advocacy effort is for YOUR green card. Please take the time to talk to your employers now and get the required 2 days off to participate in the event.

Well I responded in Oct 2008 and it had RFE status. It didnt change for the past 2 years and it changed to "RFE Review" yesterday. Is this just a coincidence or something to extract out of it ?
For RFE rebuttal, it will remain in the same status until it is approved. You should have contacted them after 60 days of your rebuttal. But as of now, it is fine I guess.
My friend had very similar situation. His status remained as REVIEW until it was finally approved. So no need to worry.
