1. You stopped worrying because you got your EAD at least.
2. USCIS is not asking to prove relationship with your great grandparents every time you go for H1B extension
3. You dont need to worry about the VO at POE or consulate and not postponing your India trip for 3-4 years now.
4. Even though you are on project and pay roll is running, paying the tax...dont lose your sleep over what memo comes next before the next H1B extension.
Our people are not worrying until it strikes them. Till then they will ask all sorts of questions and have attitude of why should I donate. You can see now and then a thread on IV - Help urgent, I-485 denied, H4- denied.
Why its urgent now for them...?
Mr. Nathan I have a great deal of respect for you and all those who have committed themselves to driving IV and all activities it is doing. But what you understood from my post is entirely wrong, and I have to explain why, because if this is the misconception you are having, not about me in particular but everyone who is not involved, then it definitely needs answers.
As I already clarified, I had stopped worrying about GC, long time ago, not after getting EAD.
I bought a house when I didn't even start my current GC process.
I went to India (Chennai) in my 7th year for H1 extension stamping (after completing 6 yrs of H1 and before I even filed 485). I didn't postpone it till I got EAD.
I left my employer who had filed for my labor in 2004 because he started acting up at the end of my project and started GC process with new employer well into my 6th year.
I do understand some people run to IV only in time of need. But all I am saying is not to paint everyone with same brush. Even if you think about people who want anything to do with IV only when there is need, lets try winning them over rather than stating the obvious and ridiculing them.

Susie,
If you expect IV and it's members to be sympathetic to your cause - start promoting IV. First step is to add a link to IV in your website. Second would be to post about IV action Items there and encouragement to EV members to participate in IV actions. I'm sure IV will reciprocate quid pro quo.
Many of us do sympathize with your cause, but right now we are fighting a lonely battle against injustices against us. Will EV be our (IVs) friend in this struggle?

ok now we have 300!
Precisely, members underestimate the importance of meeting lawmakers in a large scale. When we meet members of Senate and congress all over the country, not only can we get a new Bill, but our provisions could also get attached to any other Bills once they morally support us. But it will not happen if you just send chain mail, its all about building human relations with the law maker staff and make them aware of our problems. That is why family based visas and illegals, kids (DREAM) get ahead as they have the human factor apparent.
With law makers its all about human values, empathy, compassion, etc. - like family, kids. You can forget everything about rocket science, recursion, curve fitting - it doesn't mean anything to them in terms of getting their support. It is difficult for a technical person to understand this and their point of view. It would help to get your extended family involved if you have one.
Even today skill based immigration is not even at the forefront of population growth, as their idea about general population is a bit different and has nothing to do with IQ. that is why extra effort is needed from us.
There has to be a continuous relation maintained with the immigration rep of the law maker.
I have a question,
Could you please provide how to get in touch with these political people and how to get their time and explain them? Do we get an appointment?
Also draft of letters to provide them as a refrence?
An Agenda when we visit them?
If you could please provide these guidelines, we will know what all needs to be done and anybody interested would do it.

I may as well tell my wife to accept the fact that she is likely to loose her job. Just got reply from my attorney to go for INFOPASS once 90 days have passed and request expedite.

Did you do INFOPASS or Service Request? Is that the same or different?

Ok i have to do this.
Difference between genius and ordinary is the former will understand without experiencing. Latter needs to experience to realise.
Having a perfect health, family and yet looking for this materialistic paper to make you more happy. Beats me.
How about this?. I will trade my GC to you , would you chop one of your legs for me?.
Health is the biggest wealth. Be happy with what you have. Focus on better things which will improve the life of your family and make them happy. Focus on things in your control.
You have got your gc right!:) Probably i will be writing like this once i have it in my hand...

Thats true dear pappu,
I Never donated anything to IV so far, but now I will do that. I did spread awareness about IV from last several years, and will keep doing so.
IV helps me a lot in providing valuable information plus very big moral support when i got frustrated.
Thank you I IV and Dear Teddy for his great hardwork.
is there anyway we can add some more points in IV agenda if they are already not there,
1. what we can do to reduce Citizenship waiting time for us who are already waiting from many years for GC because of the retrogression.
2. how to make easier for a unmarried Greencard holder to bring their spouses to US rather then waiting for 4 years.
if you dont like any of the above suggestions, just ignore and dont fight.
Thanks
MC aka Kaka aka Dalai Lama.
You will donate 25 dollars 4 years member or will calculate like 25x12x4 :)

have you ever took a vacation day off faking ill-health either of yourself or somebody you know? when its convenient for us, we tend to legitimize what we do, when somebody else does it, they have to suffer. And oh no, you are not selfish, you are just jealous
Enough is enough. I am ready to sign this.
I have 3 real names. All were working for Cognizant. One had 3 years of exp. Cooked up with 4 years of B.Tech and totalled it as 7 years. Came on L1 as PM and applied in EB1. He got GC in less than 1 year. Other 2 had real 7 years exp and got GC's in 8 months. All were working at Client's place and NOT intra company transfers.
I am not selfish. But I am sure this guy with 3 years exp may one day become a boss for any of us.
This misuse will hurt the genuine cases. Shall we we go serious and complaint? I am ready to sign and submit all the proof.

except that the visa bulletin is published by the department of state, not USCIS...
anyway EB3-India and hopefully EB3-ROW would definately move soon, they seem to have been pushed too far back out...
There are chances of a slowdown in the Dec visa bulletin due to Holiday season and internal audits.

If dates remain current, I-485 will be processed based on receipt date
If dates retrogress (Likely to happen on July 3rd, July 15th, July 31st.....take your pick), then I-485 will be processed based on PD
I just received the following email from my attorney:
"We have just received notification that the State Department plans to issue
a revised Visa Bulletin for July 2007. We expect to receive this on Monday
or Tuesday. The revised bulletin would retrogress some or all of the
employment based categories, very likely to the point of unavailable. We
will keep you posted".
This is bad news and I have not even filed the 485 yet.

This is an extremely bad bill. With India dominating not only the H1 visa quota and EB green cards applications but also body shops and consulting companies; eliminating the per country quota would massively and unfairly flood America with workers from India
Many defenders of the bill used flawed socio-economic reasons to justify their *shameful and selfish agenda. Unused visa for ROW (Other countries) is NOT because there are not enough skilled workers from other countries but because the uscis/dhs use the quota to conservatively hence at the end of the visa year there are still many quotas left. ROW priority date has never been current for a very long time
Would you prefer to work with 7 immigrants from India and OR 2 from India, 1 from Germany, 1 from Zimbabwe, 1 from Argentina, 1 from Slovakia and 1 from Burma? The bill will not only hurt professional immigrants from other countries but also will hurt diversity, the core and sacred believe of American people
What a lame logic.
How does it matter from which country is the doctor/engineer/scientist is coming from
and with whom I am working.
Your commment sounds like coming directly from numbersusa or Lou dobbs.

Big movement usually comes in June (last quarter of the fiscal year) because DOS is not good in statistics (they are hiring US citizens...just kidding, no offense meant) and only that time it realizes that there are more visas to give. And then suddenly some big VB movements (i think DOS should hire us instead as statistician....i can make accurate VB...lol).
But I believe for FY2008, big movement will come on April (DOS doesn't like a repeat of the July VB fiasco).
i agree with junRN....i think this time around the movement will be accurate because all the 485 cases have been filed (excluding BEC ppl) no labor substitution will occur, hence they will know how many visas are in hand and how many can be allotted. Although I think the movement will start from Dec as they suggested...but it will be conservative..and then get agrressive (if reqd) by april.

So you will be on H1 till conclusion. Best Luck.
Yes, I dont really see that as a problem right away (though I am aware of the risks!). I have completed only 4 years of my H1B and with approved I140, I should be able to extend another 3 years, (if required).
BharatPremi, do you know if one can have both 485 and CP processes simultaneously?
I am just wondering if I could file 485 (if my PD becomes current and stays current only for a short period as it happened in July) and have my CP case also alive.
My CP case is already in Consulate (after processing Form 230) which means I am just awaiting an interview. 485 is to safeguard my GC against any unforeseen odds and risks. Is that possible?
Or, can I file another LC (under EB2) and once I140 is approved (using prior PD), can I interfile (in CP)?
I just wanted to have the safety net that 485 provides or move to EB2 so that interview can be expected in the next year or so -if my new I140 is approved by then!
Any recommendations and is this technically possible?
