You can write a balance-transfer-cheque to your own name (which you can deposit to your checkings account) of amount upto your credit limit on that credit card.
I had 25k credit limit on my credit card, so i could balance-transfer that much. usually if you have a 3-4 years credit history, you can call up the credit card company and ask them to raise your credit limit.
Balance transfers - 0% APR are generally good for 9 months to 1 year loan only. So you will have to repay within a year. But you can keep doing that for 2-3 years till you pay off your complete loan.

Can you tell us when did you resubmit your application and what fee did they accept..old or new. A friend of mine resubmitted his application a few days ago with new fee... his original app was rejected earlier because his attorney sent thre wrong fee amount...(neither new nor old..)

We submitted the application with checks covering the old fee, also included an additional check to make up the difference for new fee. USCIS has cashed in all the checks (new fee).

I am Primary on H1B working 30 hrs base as a full-timer with benefits. If I understood you correctly I can lower my base to 20 hrs per week (without benefits) and still be on H1B visa?

Hey Ed - I chickened out on the Abes deal after reading the reviews - sounds like they make you work hard for your discount. If you went for it, let me know the outcome.
So what made you switch?
Well... A friend of mine has a photography business and uses Nikon kit. For a long time I have been impressed by her out of the camera images (color and skin tones), particularly flash shots. She was achieving good looking images with far less processing than me. Her nikon zooms were great wide open too - mine were just OK (on a 20d) I was hoping that Canon would take a hint, & come up with a feature set to compete with the d300. They didnt do it, so I jumped ship!

Nothing to worry - Receipt Notice(s) will be issued when they will be issued. We can do nothing about it. I'm in the same boat - My application was mailed on Jul 24th and received on Jul 25th. No news so far - My Lawyer says, we should wait another month or so...

I checked online for my daughter's 485 and it shows approved and document(possibly GC):eek: mailed on 12 Jan. But my status shows RFE stage. Another interesting thing is my daughter got fingerprinting for Jan 15. She has already done fingerprinting with us in Dec 07. Even if it was to be approved for my daughter how it can happen that she goes for FP on 15 Jan and they mailed document. I dont know what is going on. Any suggestions?

1) Will there be any problem if I am not able to make it back on Oct-1st, due to any unforeseen reason, If 485 is already received by USCIS and pending?
a) You need to be physically present here when I-485 is filed. After that, it doesn't matter where you are. At some point you may be scheduled for fingerprinting, but you will likely have months for that.
Is this true? So, you don't have to be in US during the entire process of I-485 application?
2) If we leave on TN after filing AOS is there any chance that USCIS will consider the AOS request abandoned even if we return on Oct-1st in H status?
a) An I-485 can't be abandoned simply because you left the USA
3) Once we file 485 do we need to wait for the receipt before traveling abroad?

Did they issue your EAD from the time the previous one expired or from the current date. If current date, you'd have lost about 3 months or validity.
Some people I know got EADs from the next day following the expiration of their current EAD. I however got from approval date. Its all so inconsistent.

My son is in custody and I am bonding him out this week;
ICE charged him deportable as a Aggrevated Felon becuase ;
He had a PETTY LARCENY in 2009 (misdemeanor) - orginal sentance to 60 days weekend intermittent jail and 3 years probation;
He violated probation and was given a year of weekends by the judge;
Now ICE are charging him as a AF saying he is deportable because his record shows 365 sentance for the petty larceny!!!
I an others disagree and that 'a year of weekends' is NOT a sentance of a year or a suspended year;
Any case files or history anyone - your answers are welcomed!

did you get a letter from USCIS to your new address that they have received your address change request?
i changed my address back in last week of September and got the letter in mid october. i got two separte letter one addressed to me and one addressed to my wife. this letter will ensure that they have your new correct address on the file. you should get one letter for you and for each dependent. also, you should change addresses for each individuals (for you and dependent).
also keep in touch with your lawyer, they shall recieve one notice for FP alongwith you.
I called USCIS and created a new service request. Hope they will do it right this time.
My worry is if this is NOT FP notice, and something else, will it effect my application in anyway since I could not respond in a timely manner due to address change.

We were current in the July bulletin (PD Dec 04, EB3 India) but did not apply for AP along with 485. I sent the AP application on Aug 16, after over-the-phone assurances from USCIS that I can apply with old fees as long as the application is post marked before Aug 17.
The application was not delivered for some reason on the 17, although I sent next-day express, but on the 20th. The application was returned citing incorrect fees.
I read in a thread on IV that such cases can be addressed to a specific officer, with clear instructions to the mailroom that they should not open/process the application. But inspite of a long search, I could not find that thread again.
Could someone please point me to the correct thread, or to any information about this exceptional process ? Can I speak directly to this officer ?

Guys, According to following URL, it seems that all july filers should get the RN by now irrespective of the processing centers. I am 24th July filer but still did not get the RNs so far. Are other ppl also in same boat? Please let me know. I am worried now.
